Staff Spotlight – James Damey
US Director of Ministries for next level worship international
By Savannah Cone
James Damey has been leading worship for 26 years. About five years into his ministry he led his team through Dwayne Moore’s book, “Pure Praise.” His experience with NLWI began when he met with Dwayne Moore while attending the Experience Conference shortly following the devotional study. James and his wife attended the first conference NLWI held in Tennessee. From that time to the present he has formed a friendship and kinship to Dwayne and this ministry. He has hosted several conferences, worship nights, and workshops at his previous church and experienced the benefits of NLWI’s teachings.
What is James’ role?
James will be NLWI’s second full-time hire, other than Dwayne. He will be focusing on all US ministries. He will help develop church leaders in the US to experience lifestyle worship. To do this, he will travel to visit and coach leaders across the US, connecting with worship pastors, collegiate leaders, and more to grow these faith communities empowering teams and churches to worship in confidence. James’ desire is to ultimately see the church succeed in bringing people closer to God. His expertise in church leadership will be a valuable addition to our team, and we are honored to have him!
What parts of our mission does he connect with?
“I connect with the biblical concept of living a lifestyle of worship. Many people attending our churches and streaming into our services will never see the lives we live that bring us to that connection to God through worship. It is often the times we can become ‘real’ and authentic out of the spotlight that will help them engage in a lifestyle of worship themselves. Connection starts person to person, not in writing a hit worship song, or performing a perfect worship set, it is truly more than music.”

What do we love about James?
James is fun, loyal and above all, genuine. He loves to have fun when worshiping our God. “I do not think God creates bland things, so why would worship be bland? Our worship should be as unique, diverse, and special as the world God created.” He knows there is a time and a place for everything, but he always is himself no matter who he is around. James enjoys time with his family, whether it’s kayaking the smooth waters of a lake, playing golf on a relaxing day, or eating buttered popcorn and watching a movie.
Our worship should be as unique, diverse, and special as the world God created.
James Damey has been a Worship Pastor for the last 27 years. While creating and leading worship teams in multiple churches he has learned the value of living a lifestyle of worship. He has joined NLWI to pass the things he has learned to others. He and his wife April have been married for over twenty years and have three kids Elijah, Noah, and Selah Damey. They live in Cheyenne, Wyoming and attend Cheyenne Hills Church where they have served the last 14 years.
