Fallen Troops
Four of my friends who are worship leaders and pastors have fallen out of the ministry over the past few months. Three out of the four had affairs and one was accused (falsely he said) of inappropriate behavior with a child in his church. These were (are) talented and capable men whom God was using in his Kingdom. Many people looked up to them and were influenced by them.
Two things keep coming to my mind: 1) If not by the grace of God, there go I. I am not to judge them because only through the Lord’s protection have I swerved around similar ditches and ravines in my ministry and life. 2) We (I) have a responsibility as their brothers and sisters in Christ to help restore them, not to turn our back on them. Galatians 6:1 says “Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.”
Hey, I’m not preaching at you. I’m rehearsing to myself what I need to hear right now. I’ve got to reach out to them. I plan to email or call them this week. Please pray for me and pray for them!
